My Approach
Hi and welcome! I am Teah, a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Vancouver.
I work with adult individuals who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, hypervigilant, disconnected or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Many of the people I support are navigating anxiety (in the form of panic attacks, relationship anxiety, generalized or specific anxiety), trauma and difficulty moving forward from challenging past experiences, relationship challenges, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting boundaries.
You might be someone who internally feels exhausted, unsure of yourself, or stuck in cycles you don't fully understand. Therapy can be a space you can slow down, make sense of what's going on, and start to feel more grounded and in control.
I believe that therapy should feel collaborative, safe, and authentically supportive. My goal is to create an environment where you can bring your genuine self without fear of being judged, so that together we can explore your thoughts, emotions, patterns and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
Together, we work to:
- Identify your current challenges and where you'd like to see yourself
- Understand the roots of your current challenges
- Understand what's happening in the brain and body when you are triggered
- Identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck
- Process past trauma that may be getting in the way of you moving forward
- Build tools to manage emotions and navigate challenges
My style is empathetic, practical, authentic, gently challenging and easy going, with a bit of humor.
My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and holistic perspective where you are treated as a whole person that is impacted by the systems we live in.
Outside of my work, I enjoy cooking, being creative, reading, and spending time with my loved ones.
